There are just a few side dishes that are my go to’s! Roasted potatoes, baked potatoes, and my rice pilaf! My kids love this stuff and shovel it in!
My rice pilaf will go on the side of any main dish perfectly! My most favorite type of rice is Basmati. It is so fragrant and flavorful on its own already but when you add just a bit of flavoring it takes this stuff to another level!
This stuff is extremely easy to make and once you make it, you’ll never go back to the rice cooker or any type of minute rice!
Here is my go-to side dish that is extremely easy and delicious! The entire family will love it!
- 1 Cup Basmati Rice
- 2 TBSP Butter
- 1 TBSP Knorr Chicken Boullion Be careful with this! You can add the salt but cant remove it so if 1 TBSP isnt enough then add more little by little until the saltiness is where you like it!
- 2 Cups Hot water
- 2 TBSP Olive Oil
Grab a medium size pot and turn on the heat to medium-high. Add in the olive oil and butter. Stir it around until the butter is melted.
Add in the rice and stir it around so it gets nice and toasty. This step should take about 5 minutes.
Add in the 2 cups of hot water then add the chicken bouillon and stir. Turn the heat up to high and wait until the water starts to boil. Once you see it boiling, put on the lid and turn the heat ALL the way down. Leave it alone for 20-25 minutes. All the water should be gone by then.
Open the lid and stir then shut off the heat and put the lid back on. Let it just sit for a few minutes and its ready!!
I promise your whole family will love and devour this rice pilaf!! It is definitely one of our families favorite side dishes!
