Do you want to start a mom blog? Are you confused with how to get it started and grow to make money?

I always loved reading mom blogs and I would wonder how they were able to start it and all the tools that are needed to get it going.

I finally was able to muster the courage to start my own blog and so far, it’s been super fun! I enjoy researching and writing blog posts that can help other moms out there.

Now, I wanted to put together the resources that I used for my blog to help anyone else who wants to start a blog and monetize their passions.

Niche

Think about things you are interested in writing about. You’ll want to try and solve a problem for someone. If you can figure out what problem you can solve and start a blog based on that then you’ve got it made.

As an example, starting a fitness blog based around a vegan diet and how to make sure you’re getting all the nutrients you need. This is a good example because you’re helping a specific audience. In this case, it is a vegan audience who are also into fitness and nutrition.

Another great option is the food niche. Everyone needs to eat and many people want to find different and yummy meals. You can even get more specific and make it a fried food blog.

Ok, I’m not saying this is the best option for your health but it is just an example of how to get specific. There are lots of people who love eating fried foods and will come to you for your fried food recipes.

It isn’t all that hard to find a niche that would be helpful to people out there. Just be as genuinely helpful to those who are seeking it.

Web Hosting

If you are going to start a blog then I highly recommend getting it through a WordPress.Org blog. This is a self-hosted option that is needed if you are wanting to monetize your blog. I am assuming you want to monetize it!

WordPress.org is the most popular and most used blogging software. This is what I use for my blog. Since it is self-hosted, you will need to get hosting for it. I use SiteGround because it is the most user-friendly and they have the best customer service ever! They also have the fastest web page load time so that’s a huge plus for your readers.

On SiteGround, you can purchase your domain for 15.95/year and hosting is only $3.95/month. Basically, that’s a whopping $63.35 for the entire year.

As you’re signing up with Siteground, you will see step by step where to put in what domain name you want.

The cost is not bad at all and you can have a self-hosted site where you can start making an income!

Here is my link for getting hosted through SiteGround.

I cannot say enough great things about them. They also have 24/7 customer support to answer any questions you may have.

Domain Name

This is the fun part! You get to pick what you want your website to be named. The domain name is what people type in the web address bar to get to your website. You will want to make sure that yours ends with a .com because this is the most common one that is used. Stay away from .net or. org. If the domain name you picked is not available with the .com then try and tweak it a bit to get the .com, ok?

Invest In Yourself

When I first got started, I tried doing some free courses to learn about starting a blog. Those are ok but they don’t go into the depth you need in order to get it right. There is a lot that goes into having a blog as far as legal forms, business information, etc. Starting a blog can be so overwhelming if you don’t know what you’re doing. I wanted to do it right the first time.

I think it is so important to invest in yourself when you are passionate about doing something.

I took 2 blogging courses to help me figure things out. These two courses are both amazing. One is pricier but completely worth every penny. The other one is more budget-friendly but absolutely worth it as well.

The two courses I took were from It’s a Lovely Life and Becoming A Blogger.

Both of them help you get your website all set up to look nice and pretty so you can start getting your content up and running for the world to see.

It’s A Lovely Life

This course from It’s A Lovely Life is extremely detailed and the owners, Heather and Pete Reese were so supportive. They have a private Facebook group where they are able to follow up with their students and encourage the wins they have had.

There is also an opportunity to ask any questions you have about your blog and get advice from others.

The course is 30 days and each day, you learn something new. There is also a small assignment at the end of each lesson to keep you on track. With this course, you’re able to go at your own pace, so no need to get stressed out if life inevitably gets in the way.

I have learned SO much from this course and am so grateful I was able to invest in it. If you’re interested in taking this course, just click right here.

Becoming A Blogger

This course is from the Sweet & Simple Life. Cate Rosales is the owner and teacher of this blog. Her course is very detailed and thorough. She explains things in a simple step by step way so you can understand what you need to do.

She has many resources for you to start pitching to brands and start to work with them. Working with brands is just one of the ways you can start making money blogging. She covers so many more ways to make money blogging.

If you are interested in taking her course, you can sign up with my link, here!

Which Course Should I Take?

Honestly, they are both amazing and if you find it feasible, I would try and take both. If that’s not a possibility, then just pick one of these two options. They are both amazing and so helpful to get you started on the right track to making money blogging. Don’t stress out about possibly taking the wrong one. I am recommending both of them so they are both amazing and worth your time and money.

How To Get Traffic

So, you have a blog now. How do you get people to actually read it? Well, you’ll need to post links to your posts up on your different social media platforms. I have been loving Pinterest because using that platform has increased my blog traffic a bunch!

If you haven’t been using Pinterest for your blog, you need to right now! There is a great opportunity to be getting lots of blog traffic from Pinterest so don’t miss out on it.

Pinterest approves Tailwind as an automation tool. It basically takes all the work of pinning for you because it schedules it out for as long as you need it to. This makes my life so much easier and Tailwind has helped me with my blog traffic. I highly recommend this tool. Not using Tailwind will take you a whole lot longer to grow your blog traffic substantially. It is totally worth it! Tailwind also lets you automate your posts for Instagram! Kill two birds with one stone! Woohoo! I love Tailwind and you can sign up right here!

My blog on Pinterest has grown from 8.000 monthly views to 90,000 monthly views and I give Tailwind complete credit for this!

Having my blog has opened up a ton of new opportunities for me and I am so excited about it! I have been able to find what I’m passionate about through writing and that is to help others.

It hasn’t been easy, I have had to work super hard to get my blog up to where it is today but I really love it! I have spent some time watching youtube videos on setting up my blog theme to make things look organized and pretty. There are tons of resources out there for you to learn how to choose a blog theme so don’t worry about that!

I know starting a blog might seem scary but if it is something you’re passionate about and really want, then you need to invest in yourself and get it going! Do it right the first time and learn from the awesome resources I have shared. You won’t regret it! If you have any questions, feel free to contact me at any time!

Happy Blogging!
